Pierre Soulages (1919-) is a French artist, He used flat rubber spatulas or roll brushes as painting utensils, which influenced the aesthetic effect of his bulky works. He attended the École des Beaux-Arts at Montpellier. He was fascinated by Picasso & Cézanne. He has had numerous gallery and museum exhibitions as; Guggenheim Museum and Centre Pompidou. In 1946 he has studio in Courbevoie near Paris & established contact with; Domela, Picabia, Hartung and Léger. He received numerous international Art awards including “Rembrandt Award” in Germany in 1976, in Japan with the “Praemium Imperiale”, Sotheby’s London sold one of his painting in 2013 for $7000,000. Pierre Soulages lives and works in Sète and Paris.
