Biography:
Claude Monet (1840 – 1926) French born in Paris known as Claude Oscar Monet founder of Impressionism. The term Impressionism is derived from the title of his painting Impression Sunrise, son of Claude-Adolphe and Louise-Justine Aubrée Monet. On 1851 Monet entered the Le Havre secondary school of the arts. He first became known locally for his charcoal caricatures, in 1856 he met fellow artist Eugene Boudin who taught him to use oil paints. Some of his friends were Edouard Manet, Alfred Sisly & Renoir. His paintings hung in Musee Marmottan-Monet, Paris and the museums across the world.
